Of Hearts, Streets, and Airports: Nate Signs Off
Wednesday, November 8th, 2006
“Now that the campaign is stopped, I’m going to say something that all of you have heard me say before. But I want you to think about it now because now is the most important time that you have heard it. And this is the real message of this campaign and you’ll hear it in a different way because I am no longer a candidate.â€
He then repeated the key closing line of his stump speech: “The biggest lie that people like me tell people like you at election time is that, If you vote for me, I’ll solve your problems. The truth is the power is in your hands, not mine.â€
This is just the beginning.

This has been a long and valuable experience for all those involved. I have to go to school right now, but rest assure, we are here to stay. Cody, Rob, Jeremy, Andrew, and a lot of others have emailed us already, and for everyone’s information, we’re not going anywhere except forward. We’re working a new project to keep this independent movement going. We are unsure of the details, or where we’re headed, but our hearts and passion will not be wasted. Please stick around and join us on our next journey. All of our profiles on the right have our contact information, so those of you wanting to help out on the next journey, we welcome you with open arms.
Sincerely with all my heart,
Robert Hinojosa

VOTING IS WAY UP – YOU HAVE AN HOUR AND A HALF TO GET OUT THE VOTE
Tuesday, November 7th, 2006
According to the Statesman, we’re seeing record turnout across Travis County. The UT numbers, in particular, are way up.
Early (and possibly unreliable numbers) show 42 percent in Travis county and higher statewide. That’s ENORMOUS.
This election is ours for the winning. Keep getting out the vote!
Burka Goes Kinky

Texas Monthly’s Paul Burka has endorsed Kinky. A little late for my tastes, but welcome to the party, yo.

Nothing will deter my drive, desire, and promise to save the world. We’re still standing, our head held high, and our chins up, knowing we did all that we could to make a difference in this world. More thoughts from me as they materialize. Folks, we cannot thank you enough for [...]
VOTING NOTE
Tuesday, November 7th, 2006
If you are in line to vote at 7pm, the polling place is required by law to allow you to vote, even if that means staying open past 7pm. This is something every election official should know, but some may not – do not let them close the doors on you if you’re in line by 7pm, and, if they do, call us at Kinky Friedman HQ immediately:
(512) 326-KINK (5465)
Thanks!
Anger & Aggression
Tuesday, November 7th, 2006
Lately I’ve found myself unusually p*ssed off most of the time, so I read about issues related to anger and aggression, I learned that: Anger is typically defined as a set of “feelings†that are not motivated by any particular goal.
Anger has three components:
affective, referring to emotions such as annoyance and frustration;
behavioral, which [...]
One final Kinky Friedman momentum article
Tuesday, November 7th, 2006
From the SANews
Friedman called high early voting in Bexar and Harris counties “tornadic activity.” Campaign manager Dean Barkley, who was also Ventura’s guru, expressed confidence, too.
“Every indication is that Kinky is on track to generate the additional voters, the 25 percent higher-than-normal turnout that is more than we need to win,” he said. He was also overjoyed about raising $6.2 million, or twice the original goal of $3 million.
Most pundits remain skeptical, of course, but if only half of the new voters Kinky expects materialize, it will affect a lot more than just the governor’s race.
Good Omens
Tuesday, November 7th, 2006
Good Omen One: The weather is hovering somwhere between “fair†and “gorgeous†throughout Texas today. There’s no better weather to elect a new Governor in than the weather greeting Texans today.
Good Omen Two: Chris “last minute infusion of cash†Bell’s website is down. It’s been down for at least the past few hours, and seems to have been taken offline entirely. If you’re looking for Chris Bell, I think you’ll find there’s nothing there.
