Robert Hinojosa is originally from the small South Texas town of Falfurrias. He grew up in Corpus Christi and now attends college at The University of Texas in San Antonio. He has been a supporter of the Kinky Friedman Campaign since the Fall of 2005 and a volunteer for the campaign in Bexar County since June of 2006. He is a writer at TexasGoneKinky.blogspot.com, a blog following Kinky's historic run for governor. Rob was invited to help out at GetKinky.org, and looks forward to conversing with the social community that surrounds Kinky's grassroots campaign. Being a conservative democrat, Robert feels let down by both parties' intent of monopolizing political power to advance personal and party agendas. Cue the Jeopardy Soundtrack

Monday, November 13th, 2006

We’re working relentlessly trying to bring you a new forum for Independent Texans. We hope to have something up in the next week or two, so please stick around. Many of us, and when I say that, I mean me, are playing catch up with work and school, but look forward to some big changes in the near future. Cody and I are brainstorming, and we do read every single comment for ideas. Keep them coming. We are listening.

In the mean time, we thank Chris Duel for providing this footage. Here’s Kinky in San Antonio at a book signing on November 11th.

Rick Perry Doesn’t Offer Kinky a Job

Thursday, November 9th, 2006

**UPDATE Tuesday November 14th**

So apparently nothing has coming of this yet, and most likely nothing will. If anything changes, I’ll update.

**UPDATE Friday November 10th 5:35pm**

Kinky was on the Chris Duel Show today from his ranch. Chris was talking about a fund raiser KTSA was having, and Kinky made a $5000 contribution to the Red Cross to help San Antonio military families, which was totally spontaneous. He said, “I won the money from a bet on Lieberman, what goes around comes around.” The highest contribution the whole day, and in fact KTSA’s highest ever. Chris commended Kinky on his positive and motivational campaign.

Rick Perry will call Kinky on Monday. Kinky said, “I will not sell out. It has to be good for Texas, good for Perry, and good for Kinky.” He went on to say, “Rick lost the cowboys, and he lost the Indians, and he lost the farmers, and he lost the spirit of Texas,” speculating as to what this hoopla is all about.

So apparently, Kinky and Perry will speak on the phone on Monday. We’ll report back with any new details.[...]

What Issues Concern You?

Thursday, November 9th, 2006

In our efforts to be a voice for independently minded people, maybe we should listen to what the people are saying. So here you go folks. Rant away.

Where are you from? What are your top three issues you’d like to see change? What are some specific local issues facing you or your community? What are some statewide and national issues that really hit home with you. What’s on your mind Texas, and hell, you too America, what’s bothering you? Be articulate and do a little research. Offer solutions or suggestions. This is your time, use it.

Testimonial To the Kinkster

Wednesday, November 8th, 2006

Dear Kinky,

So here we are, the day after the storm, the day we hoped would end in sunlight. Well, no day ends in sunlight, but everyday starts with it. As I look outside, the sun is actually shining brighter than I’ve seen in awhile. [...]

Stickin’ to our guns

Tuesday, November 7th, 2006

Folks it’s been a long wild ride since that chilly morning in front of the Alamo. Many of you guys and gals have been following and supporting Kinky Friedman for over a year, some for months, some just converted, and some of you are taking your time to really understand what the big deal about Kinky Friedman is.

For me, its being motivated to actually care about Texas. To understand that what is expected of me is to stay home, consume, and to not care. And for it to be common public humor that the young don’t vote, show us someone worth voting for and we will.

Email all your email lists. Go to your nearest poll and put up Kinky signs. Make plans to do the same on election day. Print out flyers from KinkyFriedman.com. Get creative folks and don’t stop pushing until victory.

(Part 2-5 after the jump)

More of the same sounds really lame.

Saturday, November 4th, 2006

There comes a point in time when we will have exhausted all means of showing Texans how important this gubernatorial election is for Texas, America, and the world, and that day is approaching exponentially faster than Rick Perry’s receding hair line.

Kinky Friedman has overcome all odds stacked against him. Getting on the ballot despite critics saying he wouldn’t, amassing a base of independents although critics said he couldn’t, surging in likely voter polls which critics argued he wouldn’t, leading hands down in most other polls that don’t target the 29% that voted in 2002, out fundraising the Democratic challenger which appeared to be unlikely, and now there is only one obstacle left to hurdle. Earning more votes than the other candidates. That’s what this races comes down to. While other candidates believe votes automatically belong to a certain party, Kinky Friedman believes votes are earned and belong to the people of Texas. We’re all independents at heart.
