We’re still here, workin’ our tails off…

We’ll be launching a new site early next week. We’re hoping Monday, but let’s get real, probably Tuesday, which really means Wednesday. Who knows? Just wanted to let yall folks know that we’re not letting this thing sit. We’re working diligently to keep the momentum going. If you would like to write for the new site (which will be much better organized than this site) send an email with your information, location, and maybe a quick bio of who the hell you are. Send that info to momentum@getkinky.org

Folks, we’re not going to let this die, we’ve got half a million people who “got it” and that’s a force to be reckoned with!

Thanks for your continued efforts! Here is one thought I had just recently:

Once a year the Independent Texans should decend upon the capitol building in Austin en masse, April 21st- the day that marks the Battle of San Jacinto. Prior to this, we will have completed petitions detailing the issues that concern us online. On that day, we will deliver the printed petitions to the capitol. Please let me know what y’all think!

While we’re all winding down and preparing to wind up… how about some general ideas on how you’re going to get people’s attention…? you have to get someones attention before you can teach them anything… and sadly… fact is… most people don’t want to wake up… they’re comfortable… they may not be happy but if they can put the blame on an entity higher than themselves then they’re comfortable… otherwise… they must accept they are responsible for themselves and for what happens around them… I hear talk about freedom and people’s rights all the time but shift the talk to the personal responsibility those things entail and the conversation visibly wilts…
So how do you pull the automons out of and keep them from retreating to their comfort zone…? if we have 75% of the people reading this now still active in three months time ~ I’ll be surprised… it’s easy to get shaken up but keeping it going forward is a bitch… Motivation to those in their zone is best served by one of two way… people can be controlled by fear or they will mimic someone/thing admired…

The Government is not a big separate entity to be feared or fought… it is simply a group of people we elect to speak for us… and if the majority of the people they speak for are complacent or apathetic… they find themselves in a position where they can serve themselves without fear of reprisal… in that position… when the opportunist move in… only those with honor, strength and integrity will continue to put others (the people they speak for) first… and it’s not easy being the one who refuses the bribe… it can even be dangerous at times…

So ~ how do you counter that…? We’re not going to use fear…between our illustrious state and federal spokesmen and the churches ~ that market is taken… so that leaves us having to get the automons attention by positive means… granted ~ you don’t make a lot of money that way but you do sleep better at night…

What is the best way to get positive attention…? Ask kids who their heroes are… you hear all about cartoon characters… my four-year old nephew likes the power rangers… spiderman… superman… adults recognize those names too… why do they like them..? besides being able to do really cool things… these characters give us hope… they show us good triumphs over evil…

Therefore… I propose we start that way… by fighting corruption… let’s show the masses that a few people *can* make a difference… an easy place to start would be Jourdanton, Texas… make the powers that be there answer for some of the horrible things things that have happened there over the past couple years… or work to shut the horse slaughter plants down… they are foreign owned… I think by france and belgium (ya know the “Invincible in peace… invisible in war” type places) and so we wouldn’t be fighting our own…

Education is great but we first need to get some attention so people will listen to us… let’s do some good things and at first… teach by example…

In any case… those are my thoughts on how we should progress… The possibilities are endless and there will be work for everyone ~ from the quiet types to the monkey-wrenchers ~ we can all stay busy and entertained….

I’ve said before, I’ll say it again “Spring Break in Austin”! A few hundred thousand pissed off Texans showing up early in the legislative session would garner at lot of attention. Think of it as our “Woodstock”! Kinky, we’re putting the band back together!

Hell, think of the marketing and synergistic (damn! there’s a word I swore I’d never use) opportunities? Civic groups, the artists community, media, tourism, Chamber of commerce tie in’s, this could be the perfect storm! Consider this my definitive statement and copyright! Spring Break Austin 2007!

    Ed,

That is an excellent idea- perhaps we should combine our ideas and maybe name it something like “Kinky’s Take Back Texas Festival”. Lets get the ball rolling!
